Mr. Dowdy made the welcome remarks prior to the meeting.  The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm.  Steve Bong introduced the officers/Board members as follows: Rebecca Doumar - 1st Vice President, Elizabeth Morris - 2nd Vice President, Robin Kramer - Secretary, and Valerie Murphree - Treasurer.

Presentation of minutes from last meeting: Mrs. Kramer stated that no minutes were taken at the last meeting.  The short minutes were presented and upon a duly made motion which was seconded, the motion passed unanimously.  Mrs. Kramer presented that beginning in the 2008-09 school year, the minutes for each meeting will be presented, reviewed, and submitted for approval at the close of the meeting.

Presentation of Treasurer Report:  Mrs. Valerie Murphree presented the treasurer report as delineated in the handouts.  Upon a duly made motion which was seconded, the report was accepted as stated unanimously.

Mr. Bong presented briefly on major fund raising activities which are:

• Carnival, for volunteering, please contact Mrs. Morris
• Fruit Sale, for volunteering, please contact Mr. Bong
• Football Games - for volunteering, please contact Mrs. Doumar
• Concert Support - for volunteering, please contact Mrs. Murphree
• Spring Picnic - for volunteering, please contact Mrs. Kramer

The MMS Band webside has a new look and home : http://www.mms-band.org (news and information).

During the Questions and Answer period, no questions were asked.

Director's Report and Announcement:

• School board responsibilities include facilities, director salary, and utilities.  Our fund raising activities assist with maintenance or purchase of equipment, sheet music, and other Band items
• Introduction of Mrs. Karen McClay as the Adminstrative Assistant to Mr. Dowdy
• Miscellaneous items:
  • School policy requires checks to include phone numbers on them
  • Payment for separate items require separate checks due to funding sources
  • Volunteers must not expect to be reimbursed for items that they purchases without a valide purchase order from the school system which must be filled out and approved prior to the purchase
  • Band fees are for intermediate and advanced band students only
  • Money collected from the band fees assist with transportation, sheet music, instruments, repairs, and equipment
  • Notes on Due dates:

    • Band Fees (participation fees)...10/1/2008

    • Policy concerns, questions, or issues should first be addressed to Mr. Dowdy
