Monrovia Middle School (MMS) Band Parents Meeting

September 8, 2008

 

 

Call to Order

 

The meeting was called order at 7:00pm by Band President Mr. Steve Bong.

 

Call for Additions to the Agenda

 

No new items were brought to Mr. Bong’s attention

Presentation of Treasurer Report: 

Mrs. Valerie Murphree presented the treasurer report as delineated in the handouts.  Upon a duly made motion which was seconded, the report was unanimously accepted as stated.

Committee Reports:

 

          Fruit Sales

                   Sallye Elliot, Chair

•  Fruit sale begins October 14, 2008 and will last until November 19, 2008. The last day to turn in orders will be November 19, 2008.
•  Truck will arrive , Thursday , December 4, 2008 at approximately 1:00pm
• Dates for venue sale: December 5- 7, 2008.
• Quote for fruit will not be increased in the event of severe                              weather in Florida.
• Volunteers are needed to fill envelopes, gather prizes, recruit                          venue workers, and post signs regarding fruit sale.
• Cagle will serve as the trucking service for the fruit sale. SHS will  need to be notified of this decision, final approval to be held until they are informed.

          Carnival

                   Elizabeth Morris, chair

•  sponsored events: concession stand and ring toss
•  volunteers are needed to work both events, especially on Saturday
• Friday volunteers are requested to arrive 15 minutes early
• All volunteers will get into the carnival free….IF your name appears on the master list of volunteers.
• Beginning and intermediate band students have been asked to bring 2 2-liter drinks as soon as possible. Advanced band members have been asked to provide bingo prizes. Bingo prizes will be accepted through 6:00pm Saturday.
• Fliers about the carnival have been sent to local elementary schools
• It was suggested that an announcement be made at Thursday night’s Football game regarding Bingo and the Carnival.

          Bingo

                   Rebecca Doumar, Chair

• Volunteers are needed to work the Bingo room, especially on                           Saturday
• Celebrity caller, Dee Dee from Star 99.1 will be on campus Friday                    evening
• A list of specialty donated items will be published to help draw in the a crowd
• Special recognition to Mrs. Gomez for collecting unbelievable                           amounts of donated items for Bingo
• MMS Band is a non-profit organization; tax deductions are                               available for donated items.
• Bingo rounds will vary from $1 - $5
